What is the Japan’s Fragrance ?

According to the old book, in 595 a piece of tree drifted in Awaji Island in Japan.

People of the Island burned it with firewood in the oven. Then there was a very good scent on every side.

Prince Shotoku said that this is a submerged aroma, it is a tree sinking  in the water,

so it says agarwood.

This is regarded as the beginning of one of  Japanese incense history.
